CTBC History

Chetpet Tamil Baptist Church was initially started as a worshipping community by a band of believers in the year 1950. The first convert Mrs.Dorthy Dhanraj and her husband Mr. Paul Dhanraj through their tireless efforts converted their family members into Christ. This group was spiritually nurtured by the Madras Bible League and seeing the growth Mrs.Sironmani Rajagopal donated a piece of land to this community to construct the church.

The worshipping community felt a need for a church affiliation and in the year 1989 with the efforts of Mr. Samuel Natesan it got affiliated to the Tamil Baptist Church, Kilpauk as their branch church. Rev.Jesuraju and his wife Mrs. Esther Jesuraju from Malaysia worked tirelessly and joined them as a worshipping congregation from 1989 to 2007.

From 2008, Mr. Joshua Jayaseelan took over as the pastor of the church. The church had two branch churches one at Choolaimedu stared in the year 1992 and Maduravoyal in the year 1993 which was made autonomous in the year 1995 and 1997 respectively.
